Morning Barrio Viejo Engagement


As an Oregon-based intimate adventure elopement and wedding photographer, I've had the privilege of witnessing love stories unfold in some of the most picturesque settings the Pacific Northwest has to offer. However, when my clients flew me out to my hometown Tucson, Arizona, to capture their engagement session at sunrise in the historical Barrio Viejo neighborhood, I knew I was about to make some new friends and capture something incredible!


It all began early in the morning, as the sun's first rays painted the Arizona sky with it's famous hues of orange and pink. My clients and I met in Barrio Viejo, a neighborhood rich in history and charm. This area is known for its vibrant, adobe-style buildings adorned with colorful doors and windows, creating a captivating backdrop for our engagement shoot.


As we strolled through the cobblestone streets, I couldn't help but marvel at the unique beauty of Barrio Viejo. The soft morning light played beautifully on the historic architecture, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere. My clients and I found had a lot in common-from our quirky tattoos to our hobbies of gardening and late night movies theater dates.


We explored the narrow alleys, capturing candid moments and sweet glances between the couple. The old-world charm of Barrio Viejo provided an incredible canvas for their love story. The couple's connection was palpable, and I couldn't help but snap away as they laughed, danced, and shared quiet moments against the backdrop of this timeless neighborhood.


As the sun continued its ascent, we found ourselves at a particularly picturesque spot. The rising sun cast long, enchanting shadows across the colorful facades, making for some truly magical shots. The couple's love seemed to radiate even brighter in this early morning light, and I was there to capture every tender moment.


After our engagement session, we decided to celebrate the morning's success with a delicious breakfast. We found a cozy café nearby and settled in for a sugary meal. One dish, in particular, caught our attention: French toast. It seemed like the perfect way to wrap up our sunrise adventure. I am obsessed with French toast so this was the perfect after meal from our early morning session.


As we savored each bite of the warm, golden-brown French toast, we shared stories and laughter. It was a simple yet perfect ending to a memorable morning filled with love, history, and what I am going to say breathtaking photography 😉.


Capturing love at sunrise in Tucson's historic Barrio Viejo was such a special moment that we planned and created. The combination of a picturesque neighborhood, the warmth of the early morning sun, and the genuine love between my clients made this engagement session truly special. It's moments like these that remind me why I am a photographer. I absolutely am obsessed with traveling, meeting new people, and creating gorgeous art together.
